Important Devour news!

All things come to an end, even panini grilled in VWs…

Dear friends, supporters, and customers,

I am moving to Utah. Yep, that’s so out of nowhere, but life has turned my path from our beautiful state of Oregon to new adventures. I will certainly miss all of you and I hold dear the memories forged behind steering wheels and oh-so-hot propane grills. This has been such a rewarding experience in my life. Thank you.

This week will be our last run with our busses, Ruby and Khaki. Please accept my sincere apologies for the short notice. Originally I was planning to share this news with a month of forewarning but I was selected last week for a civic duty that will last several weeks. I can work around this commitment just enough to supply our café. So yes, Devour can still be had even though our busses will find new homes. Through mid-May, the crew and I will be going strong Monday through Saturday, so please come and visit us in Springfield. Our coffee shop allies (Eugene Coffee Company, Global Delights, Perk) will continue to be equipped with our cold sandwiches until the last moments.

I am not sure what exactly lies down the road for Devour and the crew. Most of our staff will be staying in the community and focusing their attention on new endeavors. I am retaining the business name so if we return soon to Oregon, maybe a resurrection will be possible. Yes, someplace closer to downtown! Our blog will be updated with any future plans.

Whatever may transpire, your dedication to us over the past 2.5 years will not be forgotten. Whether you stood in the pouring rain, voted for us with a pint of beer in your hand, or drummed your co-workers into Devour obedience, we appreciate your support. A food business can only be as strong as the community that loves it. I guess it’s amazing what a dream and an old bus can do.

With all my best,

John-Patrick Downey-McCarthy
Devour Captain

  1. This is me crying.

And since I do NOT do good-byes, we'll just say, "see you when you get back" (yes, let's say that).
